She went to Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York. She studied hard and was one of the best students in her class. In 1954, she graduated from college. They had a job opening at WRCA-TV, NBC's New York station. She went to WPIX-TV to work there. She was married December 8, 1963. In 1968 they adopted a child and she named her Jacqueline Dena Guber.
